Operational Strike on Logistics Bottlenecks: Dereköy Gates Open for Trade

The Ministry of Trade has transformed the diplomatic traffic initiated at Kapıkule into a concrete regulation to break chronic bottlenecks in the Turkey-Bulgaria trade line, officially marking a critical operational improvement at border gates.

Operational Solution to Logistics Bottlenecks

As a result of strategic negotiations between the Ministry and the Bulgarian National Revenue Agency, it was decided to commission the Kırklareli Dereköy-Malko Tırnovo border gates as of August 3. This move aims to balance the traffic load created especially by light commercial vehicles.
  • Within the scope of the new regulation, light commercial cargo vehicles with a gross weight of up to 3.5 tons will be allowed to pass.
  • Within the framework of capacity planning, a total of 3000 commercial vehicles (1500 entries and 1500 exits) are expected to use this route weekly.
  • A visible relief is anticipated in the vehicle and cargo traffic accumulated at the Kapıkule and Hamzabeyli customs directorates.
  • Transit Regime and Compliance Requirements

The official notification conveyed by the Trade Counselor's Office of the Embassy in Sofia clarifies technical and legal procedures to guide market actors for the process to proceed flawlessly.
  • Light commercial vehicles passing through the border gate are required to present the transported goods to the customs administration under the transit regime.
  • It is stipulated that the goods be secured appropriately with customs seals for safety.
  • Vehicles must have valid freight transport licenses and all necessary international transport permits.
  • For logistics and export-heavy companies in the BIST 100 index, this regulation carries the potential to create an optimizing effect on operational expense items. Our algo-trading models indicate that the increase in supply chain speed may be priced into export-oriented stocks as margin improvement. The reduction of pressure on Kapıkule may support the shortening of transportation times and increase in inventory turnover rates, particularly in the automotive and textile sectors; this situation could strengthen short-term technical buy signals in related stocks.
