THY Cements 10-Year Training Strategy with Major CAE Deal at Farnborough

Turkish Airlines has taken a concrete step in its operational growth strategy by signing a critical agreement at the Farnborough Airshow, the heart of the global aviation industry, to upgrade its pilot training infrastructure for the future.

10-Year Investment Plan Accompanying the Global Fleet

Aiming to increase the capacity of the new Flight Training Center and simulator hangars to be operational in 2027 and 2028, this agreement brings a pilot training vision parallel to the rapidly expanding fleet. The long-standing cooperation with CAE deepens with these new generation technologies, aiming to raise THY's safety and operational excellence standards.

Technology-Driven Capacity Expansion and Contract Details

The devices to be provided within the scope of the agreement will play a critical role for both narrow-body and wide-body aircraft fleets. The simulation solutions to be delivered include:

■2 units of A321neo Full Flight Simulator (FFS)

■2 units of B787 Full Flight Simulator (FFS)

■1 unit of A350 Full Flight Simulator (FFS)

■2 units of A350 Level-1 Flight Training Device (FTD)

■1 optional A350 FFS and 1 optional B787 FFS

Management Emphasizes "Safety and Growth"

Prof. Dr. Murat Şeker, Chairman of the Board of Directors at THY, stated that they aim to maintain world-class service quality by meeting the increasing training needs of growing operations, while Matthew Bromberg, General Manager of CAE, emphasized that the partnership spanning over 20 years will be supported by advanced technology solutions for Airbus and Boeing aircraft types.

Markets view this move as a strategic allocation by THY not just to grow its fleet, but to invest in the human capital and technological infrastructure (CAPEX) that will carry this growth. The entry of new-generation simulators into operation will provide efficiency in pilot costs in the long run, while constituting the most critical element feeding the increased flight capacity.
