US Trade Deficit Hits Highest Level Since March 2025

The US trade deficit surged 42.2% on a monthly basis to $77.6 billion in May, marking the highest level since March 2025. According to the data released by the US Department of Commerce, the country's exports declined 3.2% to $317.7 billion in May from the previous month, while imports rose 3.3% to $395.3 billion. The US trade deficit with Mexico, one of its major trading partners, increased by $5.3 billion to $20.1 billion in May. The countries with which the US had a trade surplus include the Netherlands, Hong Kong, Central and South America, Australia, the UK, Brazil, Singapore, Belgium, and Saudi Arabia.
