Hyundai to Acquire Full Ownership of Boston Dynamics: Robotics Revolution Next Phase
Hyundai Motor Group (HMG) is moving to acquire SoftBank's remaining stake in Boston Dynamics, aiming for full ownership. Having already secured a controlling interest in 2021, Hyundai is finalizing the deal to consolidate its long-term robotics strategy. Estimated at around $325 million for SoftBank's 9.9% holding, the transaction follows SoftBank's exercise of its put option. HMG plans to deploy Atlas humanoid robot at its US factory from 2028, initially for parts sequencing and potentially extending to component assembly by 2030. The move underscores Hyundai's commitment to robotics leadership while advancing Boston Dynamics' AI-driven innovation. Markets are closely watching how this strategic merger could transform manufacturing efficiency in the automotive sector.
