MDCV UK's Après Provence Investment: A New Battle in Provence Rosé Market?
London-based MDCV UK has invested in UK-based French rosé producer Après Provence, aiming to establish a strong position in the sector. The size and financial details of the investment were not disclosed, but the company announced it will take full control of production and UK distribution under a four-year contract. Après Provence, launched last year, has seen rapid growth in the UK market with its Côtes de Provence rosé. The brand is owned by Tom Glanfield, co-founder and CEO, and produced at the Château des Bertrands winery. MDCV UK, led by CEO Gary Smith, sees this partnership as an opportunity to further grow the Provence rosé category in the UK, alongside brands like Ultimate Provence and Château de Berne. Mark Dixon, billionaire owner of MDCV UK and MDCV Group, noted that the company continues to distribute its wines to the Nordics and Asia. MDCV UK reported a turnover of £9.6 million ($12.7 million) in 2025 and employs 160 people.
This strategic acquisition could signal a new wave of competition in the Provence rosé market. MDCV UK's robust distribution network and the backing of the IWG group may accelerate Après Provence's growth in the UK and internationally. However, the long-term impact on other players in Europe's wine sector remains to be seen.
