BIST 100 Index Rises 1.22%: Chemicals-Petrochemicals Sector Leads

The BIST 100 index on Borsa İstanbul rose 1.22% to close at 14,251.29, with total trading volume reaching 18.57 billion lira. The banking sector declined 0.15%, while holdings gained 2.37%. The chemicals-petrochemicals-plastics sector led with a 3.90% increase, while financial leasing and factoring lost 8.97%. On the VİOP, the BIST 30 index futures contract gained 0.38%. The most active brokerage firms included Borsa Gundem, focusing on finance and economy.

Markets may be benefiting from strong demand in the chemicals-petrochemicals sector and positive momentum in futures trading. Long-term investors are particularly noting increased demand for share buyback programs.
