Inegöl Set to Build 1,600-Bus Capacity Plant: Will It Spark a Revolution in Turkey's Automotive Sector?

Bursa's Inegöl district is preparing to boost its automotive production capacity with a new investment of 87.5 million TL. The plant, planned by Ulaşım İç ve Dış Ticaret A.Ş., aims to produce 1,600 buses annually and has received a "Environmental Impact Assessment Positive (Annex-2)" decision from the Ministry of Environment.

Inegöl to Add a New Star to Turkey's Automotive Map

  • The factory, to be built on 37,300 square meters of land with a 14,833 square meter closed area, targets an annual production of 1,600 buses.
  • The project includes plans for producing different types of public transport vehicles, such as minibuses, metro buses, and trolleybuses.
  • The plant will operate 360 days a year, 9 hours a day, with a single shift system, covering all processes from chassis manufacturing to painting.
  • Preparing for Electric Bus Production

  • The project documents indicate that lithium-ion batteries can be mounted within the facility if electric bus orders are received.
  • Special safety measures, including fire safety, temperature, and humidity control, will be implemented during battery storage and mounting.
  • The produced vehicles will target both the domestic market and international exports.
  • Contributing to the Automotive Supply Chain

  • The plant will employ 450 people directly, contributing significantly to the automotive supply chain.
  • Leveraging the existing industrial infrastructure and logistics capabilities of Inegöl OSB, the facility aims to gain advantages in production processes.
  • This investment will enhance Turkey's local production capacity in the automotive sector, supporting both the national economy and opening doors for international markets. As a new player in the automotive supply chain, it could attract the attention of both domestic firms and foreign investors. Additionally, the prepared infrastructure for electric vehicle production could meet future sustainable mobility demands.
