Turkey has seen rapid growth in electric vehicle usage. According to EPDK data, electricity consumption linked to charging services increased by 153.5% year-on-year in the first half of 2026. This surge is attributed to the widespread adoption of electric vehicles and the rapid expansion of charging infrastructure.

  • Total charging transactions reached 15.408 million in the first half of 2026 (7.838 million in the same period last year).
  • Total charging duration was recorded at 17.569 million hours (7.400 million hours last year).
  • Electricity consumption linked to charging services totaled 392,252 megawatt-hours (154,723 megawatt-hours last year).
  • Rapid Increase in Charging Station Count

  • The number of charging stations in operation reached 45,970 in the first half of 2026 (45,660 last year).
  • The number of charging points increased from 12,840 at the start of 2024 to 26,462 at the start of 2025.
  • 43% of charging points are direct current (DC), 56% are alternating current (AC), and 0.06% are mobile charging points.
  • EPDK's Strategic Investments and Future Goals

  • EPDK's Energy Transformation Division Head, Ibrahim Öz, stated that the charging infrastructure is experiencing strong and stable growth.
  • Users can track charging station locations, power levels, and pricing in real-time via the Şarj@TR mobile app.
  • EPDK aims to expand the charging network's geographical coverage across the country.
  • These developments reinforce Turkey's leadership in the electric vehicle market and highlight the sustainable growth of the charging infrastructure. EPDK's investments and regulations will be crucial in meeting future demand.
