Fuel Price Adjustments: OTV Discounts and the End of the Eşel Mobile System
724FinanceAylin Güneş

Turkey's rising petrol prices have led to a 2.69 TL and 3.12 TL per liter increase in gasoline and diesel prices, respectively. Approximately half of the cost increase has been offset by OTV discounts under the eşel mobile system. According to the official gazette, the discount rate will remain at 50% until July 31, then drop to 25% from August 1 to September 30. The eşel mobile system will fully expire on October 1, 2026. Additionally, if there is a decline in refinery prices, the OTV will be increased accordingly. Daily consumption of gasoline and diesel suggests the OTV discount amounts to approximately 240 million TL. This development could impact consumer spending significantly.
Markets will closely monitor how energy prices evolve long-term. The expiration of the eşel mobile system may also bring potential increases in fuel prices.
